Guiding Your Wellness Journey: Innovative Approaches to Pain Relief
Meet Kathleen Majors, MD, a board-certified specialist in Pain Management and Anesthesiology. She has been a pillar of the Shreveport-Bossier City community for over 27 years. At FLEX Institute, Dr. Majors is ready to walk with you on the journey to wellness, bringing warmth and expertise to every step of your journey.
Dr. Majors’ path in medicine began with an internship in Internal Medicine, followed by an Anesthesiology residency. It was during her final year of residency, working alongside pain management physicians, that she discovered her passion for this field.
For Dr. Majors, the essence of her practice is about providing hope and solutions to those who have tried numerous other avenues without success. She assures her patients that, while there might be ups and downs, she is committed to crafting a personalized treatment plan that considers medications, injections, physical therapy, lifestyle changes, and more. Her approach is holistic, focusing not just on pain relief, but on enhancing overall quality of life.
Often, patients come to Dr. Majors after multiple surgeries, still struggling with pain. She takes pride in changing their perception of pain management by showing them it’s about more than just medication—it’s about looking at the whole picture, and sometimes medication isn’t even needed. When it is, she ensures strict regulation with thoughtful measures like a narcotics contract.
Understanding the profound impact of chronic pain, Dr. Majors empathizes deeply with her patients.
“Chronic pain is difficult, and I don’t think unless you have had chronic pain, you can realize how destructive it can be to patients’ lives,” she said.
She often recalls a metaphor from a mentor: “Imagine a rock in your shoe—it might not bother you the first day, but wear it every day, and it becomes unbearable.”
This insight fuels her drive to alleviate the burdens of chronic pain, offering a lifeline not only to patients but to their families as well.
Outside of her professional sphere, Dr. Majors cherishes her family life. Happily married to retired obstetrician Dr. Jake Majors, they have two daughters and a son. An avid animal lover, she finds joy in outdoor adventures with her family.
