Customized Care for Lasting Relief

Meet Ross B. Nelson III, MD, a board-certified expert in Pain Management and Anesthesiology who grew up in Shreveport and fondly remembers numerous childhood adventures. His educational journey took him from Phillips Academy Andover for high school and then to Vanderbilt University in Nashville for his undergraduate studies. However, his heart brought him back home to Shreveport for medical school at LSUHSC.

Dr. Nelson’s path in medicine continued with an internship at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, followed by an Anesthesiology Residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital. During his residency, his exceptional skills and empathetic patient interactions didn’t go unnoticed, leading to an invitation to pursue a fellowship in Pain Management. There, he mastered the art of interventional pain management, learning that effective treatment requires understanding each patient’s unique lifestyle and support system—not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Dr. Nelson treasures the gratitude and success stories of his patients, which continue to inspire him even after nearly 30 years in practice. His approach to pain management is compassionate and personalized, ensuring that every patient receives care tailored to their specific needs.

Dr. Nelson is committed to providing compassionate, individualized care at FLEX, ready to support patients on their paths to a healthier, more fulfilling life. Whether in the clinic or the great outdoors, he brings warmth, expertise, and a personal touch to everything he does.

Outside of his medical career, Dr. Nelson cherishes his family time with his wife, Lisa, and their three children. An enthusiastic outdoorsman, he enjoys hunting and fishing and is a dedicated conservationist, actively participating as a lifelong member of the Coastal Conservation Association.
