Elevate Your Game: Expert Solutions in Sports Medicine and Beyond
Andrew Patton, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine, Total Joint Replacement- Knee & Shoulder, Mako Smart Robotic Knee as well as general orthopedics at FLEX Institute in Shreveport/Bossier City.
“A lot of people think that because I specialize in sports medicine, I only treat athletes, but really anything can be a sport,” Dr. Patton said. “A big part of my job is to help patients of all ages and all activity levels maintain and restore their level of function—from a weekend warrior trying to get back to the gym to an elderly patient who is looking to maintain their independence, to a young athlete who wants to get back onto the playing field.”
In keeping with his subspecialty of Sports Medicine, Patton is a team player. He is on the same team as his patients, physician partners, and colleagues. He seeks opportunities to help… and strives to work with others to improve the team’s performance and viability.
Dr. Patton is known for leading with compassion, being a great listener, and his calm yet confident demeanor. Patients leave his clinic feeling like they have options and trust they can get better.
Dr. Patton and his wife, Suzanne, grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, and met at Caddo Magnet High School. They are the proud parents of three little boys and love having the opportunity to raise their sons while surrounded by family and friends. Dr. Patton and his wife have always led an active lifestyle. Although they may not be on the field playing soccer as they did in high school, they do love working within the community to create opportunities to keep folks active and healthy. When time allows, Patton enjoys golf- especially when his family wants to hit the links with him.

Three Things to Know About Dr. Patton
1. Anything can be a sport.
Dr. Patton treats patients of all ages and all activity levels. Whether it is the young athlete who is recovering from an injury and trying to back out onto the field or the older adult trying to maintain independence.
2. Patient success is his reward.
Dr. Patton says the best part of his job is seeing his patients out and about in the community or at their follow-up appointments, and they are BETTER. Having a patient say, “Doc, I hit a homerun last week…” or a patient drop some fresh vegetables off from their garden, thrilled that they are to get their hands back in the dirt, is a perfect day for him.
3. Patients come first.
The FLEX scheduling team calls Dr. Patton their “angel.” It doesn’t matter if he is two steps out the clinic door or has just left the OR; if a patient needs to be seen, he will change his schedule to accommodate them. Additionally, he maintains an open level of communication with his FLEX partners and referring physicians in the Ark-La-Tex.
